Why People Fail To Achieve Their Goals

Why People Fail To Achieve Their Goals And How You Can Be Different

Do you know that as high as 92% people that set a New Year resolution fail to achieve it? That means, only a small 8% people achieve their new year’s  goals.

Well, it does not mean that goal setting does not work. It is just that most people don’t set their goals right. They think that goal setting is a magic wand, and all they need to do is to write down their goals and magic will happen.

Well, that is not how it works, goal setting is not a one-time work. A lot of people make a mistake and treat goal setting as a one-time task.

If you want to achieve your goals and live your dreams, you must follow the footsteps of those who have done it. You must learn from the 8% and do what they do.

Here are 5 principles you can adopt to greatly improve your chances of hitting your goals.

  1. Thinking About Your Goals All The Time

Do you know that one of the main differences between successful and unsuccessful people is that successful people think about what they want most of the time?

There is a saying, “You will become what you think about most of the time.” And this is so true.

Successful people think about their dreams and what can they do to reach their goals all the time. They dream about it, think about it, eat it, breathe it, and sleep with it.

On the other hand, unsuccessful people think about things that do not matter, such as what movie to watch, what to eat, where to go and what to do over the weekend.

If you are serious about achieving your goals and living your dreams, you must consciously think about them every waking moment.

Keep your dreams and goals alive by thinking about them all the time.

  1. Being Consistent

What you do once in a while is not as important as what you do every day. You can only produce a remarkable result when you are consistent with your work.

Lionel Messi once said in an advertisement that it took him 17 years and 114 days to be an “overnight success.” Do you think Bill Gates and Warren Buffett accumulated their wealth in just a month?

Not at all. Success is a journey, and it takes time. Therefore, you have to be consistent with what you do.

Sadly, most people give up and quit the moment they do not see any result after they have poured in some effort.

Successful people are consistent, and they work on their goals day and night until they get the result they want.

  1. Learning And Improving

If you want to achieve your goals and be the best in what you do, you have to learn and improve constantly.

Extraordinary people like Richard Branson and Elon Musk keep on learning and improving their crafts. So what do you do to improve your skills and your knowledge each day?

Do you read books? Do you seek help and search for better strategies to reach your goals? When you fail to accomplish your targets, what should you do?

Treat the failures as lessons and learn from them. Unfortunately, most people choose to give up or change their goals whenever they fail.

Thomas Edison failed more than 10,000 times in his attempts to invent the light bulb. When he was asked about his failures, he said, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”

  1. Stay Motivated And Keep The Momentum Going

Motivation is important because it is the force that drives us and keeps us moving forward each day.

People who fail to reach their goals are usually the ones that are not motivated toward their goals. They feel lousy, and they feel tired when they need to work on their goals.

Anthony Robbins once said, “People are not lazy. They simply have impotent goals – that is, goals that do not inspire them.” And I strongly agree.

There are times you will feel down and no motivation, but there are also times when you feel powerful and so driven that you feel unstoppable.

You just need to learn to channel your motivation correctly. Some people feel motivated when they play computer games, and they can stay up late for it. You have to use this energy and channel it into your goals.

Make your goals as exciting as possible so that you will jump up in the morning and can’t wait to work on them.

  1. Take Action

This is one of the main reasons people fail to reach their goals. They write down their goals; they feel excited, but they do not work on them.

Extraordinary people are extraordinary because they work on their goals each day. They do whatever it takes to make sure they are moving toward what they want every single day.

Even if it is just a small, simple step, as long as you are taking action and are moving forward, you will eventually reach your goals.

Always remember this, you are what you do, not what you say you will do. Many people say they want to build an additional income source from the internet, but when they get back home from their work, they choose to watch TV or waste time on Facebook.

Practice the ‘Big 5’ technique each day. Take 5 action steps to move forward to your dreams every day. No matter how big or small your actions, you have to be consistent to build the habit.

If you can commit and do only 5 things to move you forward each day, you will have accomplished 1825 victories within a year.

Conclusion

Now that you know why the majority of people fail to achieve their goals and what you can do to acheive yours , it’s time to take action.

Remember, think about your goals all the time, learn and improve as much as you can, keep the momentum going and take action every day.
